Need To Vs. Want To

.

What does it take to have the mental & more importantly, emotional shift from making as much money as you need to making as much money as you want?

.

It’s a very powerful question you may have never asked yourself. I explored this idea with a good friend of mine who has created, ran and sold million dollar businesses a few times over.

.

The conversation was fascinating and you may gain a lot of value from what I’m about to share.

.

What You Can Learn From A Salesperson

.

You see I came from a commission sales back ground where my income was (and still is) based on my results. This same philosophy can be applied to someone working a job as well.

.

I would watch a fellow sales person have a stellar month and make $20,000 and the next month they would make $3000.

.

Now I know what you may be thinking, “Tony that’s why I could never do sales, it’s just so unpredictable and I’d never know what I was going to make month to month!

.

To someone on the outside looking in that may seem to be the case. But there is something else going on that you don’t see that determines the sales persons consistent monthly income.

l

There is something that determines your internal money thermometer. Something that keeps you from making what you want and only making what you need.

.

What Heats The Inner Thermostat

.

I talked about 4 reasons people settle for less & how to get past it back in November and it still stands as a solid post. It’s not a catch all for everyone but it’s a critical understanding about where I’m going here.

.

What I didn’t talk about in that post is what it takes to sustain your change. In this case how do you sustain your financial momentum once you’ve gotten it started.

.

There are many financial coaches that have talked about your inner money thermostat. What keeps you only making a certain amount? What is it inside of you that keeps you from the proper outside activity and doing it consistently?

.

I’ve already eluded to it in the 1st sentence of this post.

.

What does it take to have an emotional shift so that you take consistent action toward anything. Creating wealth, finding inner peace etc…

.

Finding your purpose to which you are passionate about is the answer.

.

When You Want to You No Longer Need To

.

You see many people are doing what they have to do rather than what they want to do! So guess what? You end up only making what you need to make not what you want to make! There may be a purpose of feeding your family but are you passionate about the vehicle that is doing it?

.

Do you feel it’s your purpose to be a car sales person, a 2nd grade teacher a mechanic or a an IT Tech? If so then GOOD for you!

.

Who says you won’t go on to create an amazing break through software, start a new school based on a specific interest that you found in a certain type of student or start your own dealership? All because you were passionate about it!

.

If you’re not, why are you continuing to do it?!

.

Have you ever asked someone what they do for a living? What a crap question in my opinion!

.

Ask yourself what are you doing that you are passionate about? If you’re just doing it for a living then you may want to revisit why you are really doing it at all.

.

But Tony I HAVE to have a job.

.

Who says?? If you’re not completely passionate about what you’re doing there is a good chance you will never have the success overall that you’re expecting or looking for. It’s like eating all the food you want but never feeling full or satisfied.

.

I know that’s a bold statement but you will always find a way to sabotage yourself and your financial efforts because inside you do not really believe it’s your purpose. Your soul will not be content and fulfilled.

.

If you’re not in pursuit of your passion you’re not giving yourself the gift of living nor are you really being of value and service to those around you. This is why you won’t be successful. It’s time to peel away those layers of old thoughts and thinking.

.

Start living a new way of wealth.

.

The Real Truth About Money

.

The truth can and will set you free, but first it will probably piss you off.

.

I’m not sure exactly who originated that quote but it does hit home. If you’re a bit shaken or rocked right now, good. If you’re uncomfortable or feeling resistance to what I’m saying, good.

.

You’re in a fork in the road and that means your inner core is saying, “Hello!-he’s onto something here.

.

The real truth is this, when you find what you’re passionate about and pursue it, you don’t really focus on the money. It just happens! It’s a result of a life well lived. It’s about how much value you’re really providing to those around you.

.

That is a new way of wealth.

.

How do you identify you passion and start to take action towards it? That’s another post from my perspective but in the mean time you can get an excellent perspective from Steve Pavlina on how to discover your life purpose in 20 minutes.
