In What Way Do You View Work

.

Truth is, you rarely get all the results you want only from activities and processes you prefer. Maturity involves opting for desirable results rather than pleasing activities.” Dan Kennedy, No B.S. Wealth Attraction For Entrepreneurs

If you haven’t read that book yet by the way you’re missing some serious nuggets on creating & attracting wealth in your life.

Dan Kennedy is a master marketer and I knew he would not only provide me the philosophies of wealth building but the down and dirty truths associated with the law of attraction that we hear some many theory’s about.

I believe his quote sums it up nicely.

I love learning and exploring the philosophies of successful people because its a persons philosophies that ultimately design their lifestyle and contributions to the world.

So I’ve decided to explore what does it mean to be working in wealthy ways?

The Language of Creation

.

The word work just makes me cringe honestly. I mean I’m not sure who actually loves to get up and go to work.

My personality loves to get up and create.

What is your definition of the word work?

Imagine if you just changed the meaning behind that one word, work?

Ok I know it doesn’t sound grammatically correct, “Bye honey I’m on my way to create!”

I decided a long time ago that I was never going to work in the sense of a 9 to 5. And I mean toil over something that I didn’t feel fulfilled at.

It’s my daily activities I feel that define my contributions. If I’m not excited about the work I’m doing then quite simply I’ll probably self sabotage myself. I know because I’ve done it many times.

I look at every day now as an opportunity to create because to create means to use my unique skills and gifts to contribute to the well being of my fellow men & women.

I don’t mind working at that.

However I know myself as an entrepreneur am nearly addicted to over coming challenges & obstacles. It’s one of the things that I know acts as a yin and a yang in my life.

One of my philosophies I lived by for years is that nothing worth having comes easy. Screwed up philosophy I know. I set myself up for so much adversity that if it wasn’t there I created it just to reinforce my philosophy!

However through awareness at least the first step towards positive behavior is being cognizant of the negative philosophies that lead to the behavior.

Steps towards Changing Behavior

.

So did you ask yourself what your definition of work was? If you haven’t stop reading right now and write it down.

Really…

Stop and do it…

…ok good.

The reason I ask you to define your definition of work is because your definition of work could very well define the actual activities you find yourself doing or self sabotaging yourself from doing.

An interesting read (It’s in two parts) is a post over at UrbanMonk.net that is inspired by a psychology term called  Behaviorism.

Interestingly enough, but not shocking to me, is that changing our behavior begins with thought and emotion.

Hence I figured I would ask myself the question, Why don’t people who say they want success financially, spiritually and physically, actually follow through on what they say they desire?

It then hit me that linguistically speaking there is such a negative definition attached to the word work that many people don’t want to do it even if it provides them with the desired outcome!

I believe the average person see’s someone who is wealthy as lucky but they do desire the wealthy persons outcome.

Too many people I know who are self made millionaires created (there is that word again) their own luck and didn’t take no for an answer.

Their definition of work was much different than Joe who is working a 9 to 5 that he hates. Unfortunately I come across too many of these personality types in my day to day efforts with my network marketing business.

Entrepreneurs Are Selfish

.

If you haven’t read any of Ayn Rand’s books you’re missing out on some good reading and you would know that being selfish isn’t a bad thing. How you define selfishness can impact how you define work and what it means to you.

Over at Alexshalman.com you have to read the guest post by Marina Tsipenyuk on selfishness.

Marina defines selfishness in a way inspired by Ayn Rand’s book Fountain Head. My personal favorite book is Atlas Shrugged. It’s 1300 pages and not for the meek but was a very profound read for me in my pursuit of wealthy philosophies.

Again it impacted me greatly on my own personal definition of the word work and inspired me to create for my own happiness.

Happy people are more fun to be around. :-)

Wrapped Up In Your Work

.

My point of today’s post is to hopefully get you to really look at your thoughts around the word work. By providing you with some tools from other blogs, I’d liked you to take action towards defining work so that you take on new behaviors towards getting the wealthy life you desire.

Are your thoughts around “work” empowering you to engage in the right behaviors that will lead to your desires or are your thoughts around the word causing you to self destruct & self sabotage yourself.

I heard it said years ago, “If you love what you do you’ll never work another day in your life.” There is truth in that saying.

It doesn’t mean that your passion that you work on every day won’t require serious effort though.

After reading this post you may be inspired to realize you’re not doing what exactly it is you want to do and that you’re doing what you have to do.

Ask yourself is that working in a wealthy way?

Heck after redefining the meaning behind work you will approach what you are currently doing with a fresh perspective and find joy in it!

I’m curious what you think?
